Resident Tax After a Job Change: When Withholding Restarts Special collection applies to a person who received employment income last year and is receiving it on 1 April of the fiscal year. Join part-way through the year and it does not carry on by itself. The deadline for the request is the 10th of the month after your pay stopped; with a switch application, the start is in principle the month after next. One month's slip takes each instalment from ¥20,000 to about ¥26,670.

Ichikawa ran out of budget in May and reopened on 16 September with a supplementary budget. A certificate of acceptance is not required for a reburial permit. The subsidy is occasional income, but the ¥500,000 special deduction usually leaves the tax at zero - unless a maturing insurance policy lands in the same year.

Company-Reason Leavers: NHI Premium on 30% of Salary Specially qualified recipients and specific-reason leavers can have the income-based portion of their National Health Insurance premium, and their high-cost medical expense bracket, judged on 30% of last year's employment income. Japan High School Tuition 2026: ¥457,200, No Income Cap The national ceiling is ¥457,200 for a full-time private high school and ¥118,800 for a public one, the same everywhere. But no cash reaches the guardian: the school receives it and offsets tuition, and a school charging less than the ceiling pays back no difference. Entrance fees and facility fees are excluded and belong to the scholarship grant. Top-ups run to ¥501,000 in Tokyo, ¥630,000 in Osaka and ¥650,000 in Kyoto, and only Tokyo paid its top-up for a school in another prefecture.

Living on a Pension: No Income Tax up to 2.14 Million Yen A single person in Tokyo's 23 wards on a pension of 1.8 million yen has 163,000 yen a year deducted at source, of which 85,000 yen is the long-term care premium and the income tax is zero. The resident tax exemption line runs from 1.48 to 1.55 million yen depending on the area grade, and the 2.11 million yen wall is really a long-term care premium bracket.
